Recession Reschmession

I think the New York Yankees may be recession-proof. Within the last 2 months, they've made 3 of the biggest blockbuster acquires, possibly, in MLB history. (If you don't watch baseball, trust me, the following 3 people are big-time players) They signed pitcher A.J. Burnett to a 5-year, $82.5 million dollar contract, pitcher CC Sabathia to a 8-year, $161 million dollar contract, and today they signed first baseman Mark Teixeira to a 7-year, $180 million dollar contract...Oh and by the way, they also have Derek Jeter's 10-year, $189-million dollar contract that was signed in 2001, and in 2004 the Yankees picked up the duties of paying Alex Rodriguez's 10-year, $252 million dollar contract that he signed back in 2001 with the Texas Rangers. But even with their bottom-less pockets, they still haven't won a championship since 2000. (If Detroit was better, this would have been a good time to throw in "Go Tigers!"....it'll happen soon)
